A virtuoso ensemble of uncompromising quality brings a unique multicultural aesthetic to our stage for the Latin Waves finale. Mariachi Champaña Nevín, directed by composer and trumpeter Jeff Nevin, joins the Santa Rosa symphony with a blend of “born and bred” mariachi musicians and players from world-class orchestras. Dr. Nevin, who offers the first-ever college degree in mariachi music, is host and guide for this evening exploring colorful musical traditions in the Mexican style.

Jeff Nevin, PhD [ bio]
Dr. Nevin, an award-winning classical composer, performer and lecturer, is professor of music and director of mariachi activities at Southwestern College in Chula Vista, CA, where he offers the world’s first college degree in mariachi music.
