(SANTA ROSA)—The Santa Rosa Symphony Youth Orchestra is hosting a Golf Tournament on Monday, April 30, 2007 on the West Course of the Oakmont Golf Club in Santa Rosa. The entry fee includes green fees, golf cart, a post-tournament reception and dinner, and entertainment by musicians from the Santa Rosa Symphony Youth Orchestra.
Player check-in begins at 11:30 a.m. followed by a “shot gun start” at 1 p.m. There will be a Best Ball Scramble and tee prizes. Singles are welcome.
The Youth Orchestra, founded by a group of concerned citizens representing the Santa Rosa city schools, had its first rehearsal in November 1959 under the direction of Santa Rosa Symphony concertmaster Eugene C. Shepherd. It is currently conducted by Dr. Richard Loheyde and is a full symphonic ensemble of 55 musicians, ranging in age from 13-19 years.
Proceeds from the Golf Tournament will be used for a variety of music education activities, including next season’s Youth Orchestra concerto competition and concert, and a summer music retreat.
The tournament entry fee for persons registering by April 1 is $150, and $160 after that date. Registration deadline is April 16. Persons interested in attending only the reception and dinner portion of the event—which starts at approximately 6 p.m.—may do so for a price of $30 per person. Sponsorship opportunities are also available beginning at the $125 level.
Registration forms may be downloaded from the Education pages of the SRS website OR obtained by calling the SRS Education Department 707-546-7097 ext. 225.
