(SANTA ROSA, CA) –The Santa Rosa Symphony presents the first of its 4-concert Early Romantics Festival on Jan. 27 at 5:30 p.m. at Sonoma Country Day School’s Jackson Theater. This performance offers the chamber music of Franz Schubert, including Quintet in A major for Piano and Strings, popularly known as the “Trout Quintet.”

The Festival host is renowned pianist Mack McCray, faculty member at the San Francisco Conservatory of Music and former teacher of Jeffrey Kahane. He will play and direct the evening’s exploration of a composer whose works explore the sound language of narrative verse and song.

Canadian soprano Rhoslyn Jones will sing Schubert’s Die Forelle for Voice and Piano and Der Hirt auf dem Felsen for Soprano, Clarinet and Piano. Jones has performed with the San Francisco Opera Merola Program, was one of the 2006 winners in the Canadian Broadcasting Company (CBC) Debut Competition, and second place winner at the Northwest Regional Metropolitan Opera Competition in 2002 and 2003. The concert will be followed by a free wine reception with the musicians, courtesy of Jackson Wine Estates.

Subscriptions are still available for the entire festival, which continues at the Jackson Theater on February 24 and March 31, and has its finale on April 28 at the Well Fargo Center. By purchasing a subscription, patrons receive the best seats and up to $25 in savings over the single ticket price. In addition, special Student Rush Tickets can be obtained in the lobby of the Jackson Theater 30 minutes before the performance at $10 each (with valid student I.D.).

The 4-concert subscription packages are $93 and $118; single tickets for Jan. 27, Feb. 24 and March 31 are $23 and $31; single tickets for April 28 range from $27-$50.
