Summer Music Academy

Placement and Auditions
Initial placement is determined by registration information and by teacher recommendation, included in the registration packet. At the instructor’s discretion, a placement audition may be required, especially for String Orchestras, Wind Ensembles, Jazz Ensemble and the Academy Orchestra. In the event that an audition is required, you will be notified. Please call (707) 546-7097, ext. 225 for more information.

Enrollment
Summer Music Academy enrollment is on a first-come, first served basis. Eligibility and initial placement for the instrumental ensembles are determined by teacher recommendation. Placement is determined by age, skill level, musical balance and instrumentation. We will place you in a class, but at the instructor’s discretion an audition may be required to better determine placement and seating for students wishing to enroll in the String Orchestras, Wind Ensembles, or the Jazz Ensemble. Please call (707) 546-7097, ext. 225 for more information or to schedule an appointment.

Concerts/Recitals
All classes and ensembles will give their final performances on Saturday, July 31, 2010 in the Jackson Theater at Sonoma Country Day School.

Tuition and Payment
Tuition must be paid in full by check, cash, or credit card by July 12.

Financial Assistance
Applications for a limited number of financial aid scholarships are available upon request, but they must be returned by (June 1?), 2010, for priority consideration. If financial aid is awarded, you are not eligible for any other discounts. For more information, contact the Education Department at (707) 546-7097 ext. 225.

Deposit
A $100 deposit for each child for each class/ensemble must be paid in order to secure a seat (unless tuition is paid in full). The tuition balance is due no later than July 12, 2010. For those applying for financial assistance, the $50 tuition payment per musician per class/ensemble acts as a deposit.

Refunds/Cancellations
A $25 processing fee will be charged for all student initiated cancellations. There are no refunds of any kind after the second day of the class/ensemble.

Early Bird Discount
To receive a $25 discount off of the tuition balance, payment in full for each class/ensemble for each student is due with the registration form on or before April 1, 2010. If it is unknown which ensemble /orchestra/ class the student will qualify to join, parents may pay for the least expensive in that category. Students may register after April 1, 2010, but will not receive the Early Bird discount.

Multiple Class/Ensemble Discount
Families registering more than one musician, or registering one musician in two or more classes/ensembles receive a $25 discount on the second class.
